Our History

Prabhat Tara School is a Junior High School, situated at the foot hill and surrounded by the forest. The area is known as Chorgallia in the district of Nainital, Uttarakhand. The school originally was established in 1973 with the intention of imparting holistic education to the poor children around. The development of a child can happen only through education, weather it is spiritual, mental, social, economical, emotional or psychological. Children are the future leaders of the nation. Therefore the nation's development is based on the education that we impart to the children today. Thus stress must be given to the moral, spiritual, emotional and mental growth. Keeping this aspect in mind the foundation of the school was laid.
It is a catholic school run by the Diocese of Bareilly. It was started as a primary school and upgraded to junior high school in the year 1980. People around here are economically backward. They are mostly daily laborers or farmers. These are people who came down from near and far away mountains for their livelihood.
The aim of Prabhat Tara School is to educate the poor whose parents are economically miserable and socially diffident, So that through education they can come to the main stream of the society. Every child is taken care of. They are helped to build up the skills in various fields and capacities.
Extra-curricular activities are given importance. Along with it sports, scouts and cultural programs are given pivotal place in the day to day curriculum. Children are encouraged and motivated for the same. Prabhat Tara School dwells above the social evils of caste, creed, and colour, rich and poor. Each child is equally treated and the weaker students, irrespective of the above are given individual attention and extra classes. Character building is given more importance in the day to day running of the school. Discipline is maintained in every area because this too make the child what She /he is tomorrow.
